Counter Attack!
Been busy over the past 2 weeks working on a commission for the guys at Counter Attack! I created a new ‘CA!’ Logo, podcast illustration, website banner as well as several avatars.
Counter Attack! is a news/ reviews website. I actually listen to their podcast weekly as I do my artwork, as a team they have great chemistry which it makes it a good listen.
I wanted to try to capture their personalities in the design. So that when you listen to the podcast you could put a face to the voice. They came up with the idea of having objects from their favourite games and I believe this was a great starting point. For the CA! logo I created a slick, clean and professional look.

It’s been a long time coming but I now have art prints!
The high quality Giclee print really makes textures pop, I just love how they have turned out!
I picked up an A3 frame to see what they look like on the wall and more than happy with the result.

My take on the Chimera (Resistance 3)
Here is my take on the Chrimera from Resistance 3. One of my favourite first person shooters. Recently played the trilogy back to back. The third is incredible, felt like it mixed all my favourite genres and games together! Had Ratchet and clank style guns, Fallout 3/ Half life 2 atmosphere.
Below are some doodles from when creating this. I wanted him to look as fiendish as I could but still give him that scary alien look. Hopefully this with get turned into a sculpt.

I have been hiding away creating designs for Pablo Eskimo’s new album. After suggesting the Zombie theme for the cover the band decided to call their new album ‘Dawn of the Eskimo’. Pretty awesome! Above are some designs that didn’t get used. Once the album is launched I will post the final products.

‘Year of the App, What’s your Avatar?’ Notebook design.
This is my entry for the JS competition. The brief was to design a notebook cover that reflects what’s hot in 2013.
Technology is advancing at an impressive rate. Tablets and mobile phones are becoming more user friendly and accessible to all age groups. They are the current source of information and entertainment. You can look up much needed information, play video games or watch TV, but these aren’t usually possible without one thing, an app!
There is an app on your phone or ipad for almost anything but social networking plays a big part. You are encouraged to share high scores in games, share the current film you’re watching or just generally announce to all your friends and family what’s on your mind.
It’s an exciting year as 2013 will see the start of the new generation of gaming consoles being released. According to early announcements, the main advancement with the new consoles is that they will make use of social interaction and this is their big selling point. It’s now easier than ever to play with your friends online or compete with strangers across the world. With gaming you can customise avatars that others playing online can see. Some are as simple as your favourite games others you can personalise and they essentially become your online persona.
This is what I have tried to reflect in my design, which shows two people interacting using apps on their tablet and mobile phone, their appearance representing their gaming avatars. The people stand back to back absorbed in their own worlds, yet their avatars happily interact in the virtual world. Anyone can find an app to suit them, so I’ve included a male and female character in the hope that this design will appeal to both genders, just as the apps do. I feel that this represents what’s hot now in 2013.

‘Deceitful Decision’ My take on Fallout 3
This illustration is called ‘Deceitful Decision’ and is my take on Fallout 3. Its inspired by one of my most memorable gaming experiences. Destroy Megaton or save it? I remember my deceitful decision having disastrous consequences with a character I liked, I did on the other hand now own a swanky new apartment and a good view saluting farewell to Megaton. Kaboom!
Last year I come up with the idea for this illustration and threw it down in doodle form (see below). I spent a good amount of time creating this polished version last week, as its one of my favourite games I wanted to do it justice! Creating this has put me in the mood to pick up the game again. I believe the PC version has some great mods. Any recommendations to what ones?

My take on Barrett from Final Fantasy 7
Here is my take on Final Fantasy 7 character, Barrett.
When I was younger all my friends and cousin was heavily into Final Fantasy 7 where as I was more into action games such as Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter. Back then I never gave it a chance and dismissed it. So recently I blew the dust off my PSP and installed Final Fantasy 7 to see what all the fuss was about. I’m only four hours into the game but I’m really enjoying it. After a while you come accustomed to the dated graphics and it becomes charm. The character models used in combat are a little more detailed and have character to them.
Not that there is anything wrong with the music in games nowadays but I noticed something this game has that most don’t today. Familiar catchy music for certain situations or areas. Think back to Street fighter, Super Mario or Tetris and you can instantly remember the music.
So why did I draw Barrett and not Cloud? Because after playing it I consider Barrett my personal badass of the gaming world of 2013!
