For this Hotline Miami inspired illustration I didn’t want to focus on the violence and gore of the game but capture my game play experience. Playing it I would either be perched outside a door observing the enemies’ layouts and movements or running into a room guns blazing. Drawing attention with noise however seems to get you killed too quickly. The use of animal masks with perks for rewards adds an eerie charm to the game. The game captivates and draws you in musically as it’s oozing with 80s inspired beats. Story wise it’s a little trippy and has traits of David Lynch. So to capture all this in my illustration I crafted a dark almost dream like atmosphere and created a situation that could be interpreted in two ways. Is he taking his time sneaking and planning his next kill or has he just been discovered and is about to die?
